After last years outstanding effort of cycling over 1079 miles in 8 days, finishing 8th out of 256 teams and most importantly raising over £1200.00 for the charity, the team of FLETCHERS FLYERS are back as they join other ’teams’ in looking to exceed the £200k raised as part of last years #CYCLEFORSMARTWORKS campaign

Campbell & Fletcher Recruitment are long-term proud supporters of the Smart Works charity, which provides clothing and interview training to unemployed women in need. In just 8 years, Smart Works has helped over 20,000 women across their UK wide centres, with 62% of those helped securing a job within a month of seeing Smartworks. Smart Works helps them to be at their best by giving them the confidence, self-belief, and the tools to help transform their lives. Our own MD, Tracy Fletcher is in fact a volunteer coach at the Leeds office and gets to see first-hand how the Smart Works service provides amazing support to women who, all too often, have challenging personal lives at the same time as trying to succeed in the workplace.

Cycle for Smart Works 2022 starts on the 1st March and ends on the 8th March – which is International Women’s Day #breakthebias.  Teams of 5 are challenged to cycle a total of 500 miles (which is the distance between the eight Smart Works centres), now in its sixth year, Cycle for Smart Works has raised over £500,000 for the charity and the cyclists have pedalled over 500,000 miles.

Fletchers Flyers once agains will be led by team captain, Tracy, who despite her failed efforts to get Mark Cavendish and Chris Froome on board, has gather a superb team of athletes to support her efforts.

“To say I am delighted to be donning the lycra again and getting back in the saddle is probably an exaggeration….!! I am still traumatised from the pain of last years’ efforts if I am honest! However, we are prepared to make the sacrifice for this excellent cause, knowing that our efforts last year helped us to support 400 women in Leeds, 72% of whom secured a role within one month of visiting us. ”
