Job Description: 

The role holder will be responsible for residential mortgage applications, from initial enquiry and application, through the underwriting process,  to completion and drawdown.

 
Skills and experience needed (essential or preferred): 
  • Fully CeMap qualified

  • Minimum 3 years experience of working in mortgage industry

  • Intermediary market knowledge

  • Mortgage processing knowledge

  • Ideally had a personal lending authority previously

  • Ideally experience of managing manual mortgage applications

Job Description: 
  • Manage a pipeline of loan applications within a dynamic environment, dealing with high volumes and prioritising workflow accordingly.
  • Underwrite loan applications against the Company’s lending criteria.
  • Be able to articulate rationale for lending decisions to various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be alert to the risks attributed to a loan application ensuring that the proposal is both suitable and fit for purpose.
  • Take responsibility for resolving all relevant underwriting queries, recommending appropriate mitigation of risks where necessary.
  • Provide excellent service to customers.
 
Skills and experience needed (essential or preferred): 
  • Specialist real estate finance, bridging and property development experience gained in an underwriting role with a bridging lender.

  • Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to underwriting property related loans.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple underwriting functions effectively within set timescales.

  • Be commercially minded with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Can adopt a flexible approach to working to meet the needs of the business

Job Description: 
 
The role holder will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s credit, including risk appetite, policies, procedures and internal controls. There will be a personal discretionary authority attached to the role to be used to make credit decisions as well as providing second line oversight for colleagues where appropriate. The role includes responsibility of the operation of the banks Credit Committee, as well as oversight and control of a number of other functions including credit related processes, risk appetite and credit and risk related training.
 
Skills and experience needed (essential or preferred): Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum 7 years commercial lending credit underwriting experience
  • Excellent credit risk analysis skills as well as a good awareness of the broader risk categories such as operational, financial crime and conduct risk.
  • Thorough understanding of the credit cycles in relation to general business
  • A good understanding of debt recovery and realisation of security
  • Exposure to some of the following:  charities, not for profit, healthcare, social housing and faith-based organisations.
