Fletchers Flyers Outstanding Effort for SmartWorks

After a week of underwater cycling, proper punctures, peloton, pain and claiming wine has isotonic properties the team of ‘heroes’ in Fletchers Flyers have cycled over 1079 miles in 8 days and most importantly have raised £1210.00 for SmartWorks  which has helped the charity raise over £200k as part of the #CYCLEFORSMARTWORKS campaign.

After 8 days of road cycling (and pushing when one of the riders got a puncture), Peloton, and Spin Bike,  Fletchers Flyers finished an amazing 8th out of the 236 teams who entered by way of distanced covered between 1st March and 8th March. Team Captain Tracy summed up the feeling of the team the day after the event, with the words “Morning team!! What a glorious morning to not have to get on a bloody bike”, but also said of her team, “You are all amazing – and for fear of being labelled ‘a softy’ God forbid, I am a bit teary”.

Talk has already progressed to a possible challenge of one of the Grand Tours, however I believe the Le Marathon Du Medoc in 2022 could be on the cards, a full Marathon Running Race with musical breaks to listen to some of the 50 orchestras or a short break at some of the 23 Wine Tasting, Oyster and Steak stations through the vineyards of the Medoc region of France.

Campbell & Fletcher Recruitment chose SmartWorks as their charity to support again in 2021, Tracy is a volunteer coach at their Leeds office, and the Charity meets our own passions about supporting women to fulfil their potential in the work place.
