Campbell & Fletcher supporting Smart Works Leeds 1st Birthday

Earlier this year we announced that our chosen charity for this year was Smart Works, a UK Charity that provides support, training and clothing for unemployed women who are looking to re-enter the workplace. The charity works hards to support women in being their best at a crucial moment in her life; our own Managing Director Tracy Fletcher volunteers her time at the Leeds office. This short video will give you an insight into how Smart Works is changing lives.

To celebrate the 1st birthday of the Smart Works Leeds office we are proud to be supporting the celebration and raising awareness of the work undertaken in its first year of opening.  Smart Works Leeds will be running an online birthday event starting at noon on the 5th November, the theme being; “Women in ‘Leads’ – managing through adversity” with 3 Keynote speakers lined up.

Paula Nickolds

Smart Works Ambassador and leading figure in British retail, most recently as the Managing Director of John Lewis & Partners, the culmination of a 25 year career with the John Lewis Partnership. She is passionate about fashion and retail and about supporting women and girls to ‘dream big‘ and to realise their full potential.

Dame Julie Kenny

Dame Julie is the Chair of Trustees at the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation. She is a successful Yorkshire based entrepreneur and has, for over twenty years, served the business and wider communities. She was awarded a CBE in 2002 for her services to industry in Yorkshire and Humberside. Julie was the Vitalise Businesswoman of the Year in 2013 and Private Businesswoman of the Year 2014.

Councillor Eileen Taylor

The 126th person to hold the Office of Lord Mayor of Leeds. The Councillor is extremely proud to represent the City of Leeds as the first black Lord Mayor. During her political career the Lord Mayor has served as a board member on the following Committees: Environmental and Highway, Transport Authority, Health and Well-being, Children and Families, Infrastructure Investment Scrutiny and most recently she was the chair of Inner North East community.

Smart Works Leeds has helped transform the lives of over 100 women since opening, with 168 appointment with an overall job success rate of over 70% – eve during the pandemic the charity has found ways to continue with this work. It costs over £500.00 per day for the Smart Works doors to be opened, so in addition to the event, there will also be a raffle with some amazing prizes lines up. These include:

  • A Givenchy handbag – Origina RRP £1850
  • 6 months subscription to “the Rare Bird Book Club”
SUPPORT THE #BLUEFORYOU CAMPAIGN 
The Charity are also encouraging businesses/individuals to dress in blue (the Smart Works colour) on our birthday and make a small financial donation to Smart Works Leeds for doing so. If you fancy asking your team to join us and dress in blue and take a quick photo, we will share these photos on our social media channels as well as sending through to Smart Works Leeds for them to share also; make sure you tag  #blueforyou on your social posts on the 5th November.
